Praud architecture office designed 'The Leaning House,' a slanted box-like abode located near Seoul's Chungpyong Lake. The home is a sanctuary for retired professors who wish to work and contemplate in peace.
To fulfill the clients' desire for views and light, the building is tilted upwards. The topography of the site dictated that the house had to face the east; however, to make the most of the southern light, the architects slanted the structure heavily towards the south. The structure's incline also allowed the architects to conceive of the interior as a continuous space; the living room, reading area and bedroom remain unobstructed by partition walls.
The open, uninterrupted spatial arrangement allows a different experience from the clients' previous apartment residence.
