A town hall-esque meeting last night brought together fishermen, federal officials and BP reps to discuss the Gulf oil spill, but it was 14-year-old Lauren Spaulding who stood out when she took the microphone during the Q & A period. The concerned student asked BP about the absence of an educational program to teach kids about the oil spill.
Lauren Spaulding took control over her own education and concludes that children need (and want) education on the oil spill. Due to the young woman, a senior advisor in the EPA now plans to start supplying community schools with academic materials.
