Colonialism Meets Minimalism in Mexico

La Purificadora

This hotel is an eclectic mix of modern and retro. Located in one of Mexico's most interesting cities, La Purificadora gives you a unique environment with clear lines, high color and beautifully detailed art. The result is very cool and chic; you will feel like you're in the middle of the modern age, with spectacular views of Puebla and punches of luxurious colonial flair.

Implications - Remarkably, La Purificadora was previously a 19th century water purifying center in the colonial city of Puebla. In order to maintain the building's environmentally inspired aesthetic, architect Ricardo Legorreta designed the structure to use as many of its ancestor's existing materials as possible. The result is that the 26-room hotel is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
