Kristy Mitchell has mastered a magical approach to photography in her Wonderland series. The two-part project includes her The Ghost Swift and The Journey Home, both of which are characterized by enchanted ethereal elements.
Wonderland is the site of paper butterflies, bright yellow leaves and Narnia-esque backgrounds. Nature comes alive in each shot as it engulfs her female subject. This is done in a literal sense as the woman is placed within the roots of a tree or within a cloak of foliage that trails behind her in a queue.
Behind the scenes snapshots reveal just how much work went into Mitchell's project. Make up artists and designers were called upon to execute these multidimensional images.
