Blocking Unwanted Adult Calls

Kosher Phone Service

Bezeq Israel Telecom, Israel's largest phone company, launched a Kosher phone service. The service will block calls from adult chat networks and other naughty or "improper" numbers. The service has been offered free and has been approved by Israel's leading rabbis.

The service is targeted at the ultra-orthodox but will be open to anyone.

Implications - This service may block inappropriate calls to children but the fact is, most cell phones and networks already do a pretty good job with security. It's more important that Internet security gets beefed up, considering that children go online more often than they talk on phones. Anti-virus software, anti-malware and other blocking innovations are areas to develop and explore in order to truly help parents protect their children.
