Vietnam-based architecture and design firm Vo Trong Nghia Architects have designed a bamboo-clad cafe called the Kontum Indochine Cafe as part of a hotel complex in Vietnam. In addition to the venue being a cafe, it can also be used as an extension of the complex’s banquet hall.
Located in Kontum city in Vietnam, the cafe stands out through its radical use of bamboo, which complements its natural landscape surroundings. The entire cafe is built with bamboo, with 15 inversely shaped cones as supporting pillars that were inspired by traditional fishing baskets. Inspired by the natural and picturesque landscape, the main space of the cafe provides a refuge as well as the ability to admire the beautiful scenery. Each space offers a view of a man-made lake in contrast to the greater outdoors.
