'Blue Trees' by Konstantin Dimopoulos Advocates Awareness

I wish I could say that these are photos of real-life Truffala trees from Dr. Seuss's 'The Lorax,' but they are in fact the result of Australian artist Konstantin Dimopoulos's creative awareness project. Using environmentally safe pigments, Konstantin Dimopoulos paints blue on trees in order to raise awareness towards the roughly 30 million acres of trees deforested each year.

The contrast between the vibrant blue bark and the changing color of the leaves creates a fascinating image of modified natural aesthetics. These blue trees illustrate the beauty inherent within the wooden towers, and the onus we must place on preserving them before we realize it's too late.

Instead of ignoring the Lorax's warning, let us take a lesson from the iconic children's story and Konstantin Dimopoulos project and remember that what is now abundant and enchanting may cease to be so if we continue to exploit our natural resources.
