Parents Can Ensure Good Habits With the Kolibree Magik Smart Toothbrush

The Kolibree Magik smart toothbrush is an innovative new piece of technology that will hopefully end the headache of having to worry about kids properly cleaning their teeth on their own. Premiering at CES 2018, the Kolibree Magik uses computer vision technology, motion capture and your phone's front-facing camera to create an AR game centered around brushing one's teeth. The game, called Magik Mirror, has players fight an evil monster, bent on spreading cavities, by shooting bubbles at it. The game is controlled by the toothbrush and the motions of brushing teeth control the bubble gun. This may not be the first device to trick kids into brushing their teeth, but it is the first to utilize AR to combine real-time brushing with a fun and addictive game. While the app is currently confined to a phone screen, Kolibree hopes that the game can eventually be projected on a smart mirror.

To prevent over brushing, the game can only be played three times per day and parents can receive data regarding their children's brushing habits. The companion app for parents will allow for better brushing instructions to be given and can even locate and control areas that are not brushed. The Kolibree Magik toothbrush has yet to receive a release date or price.
