Toyota's 'Kirobo Mini' Can Respond to Voice Requests and Sense Emotions

The Kirobo mini is a tiny robot that Toyota has designed to keep drivers company, respond to voice commands and even sense their moods. The robot looks like a miniature astronaut, as it is based on the Kirobo robot that traveled to the Space Station.

The car companion can fit in a cup holster inside a specially made seat that looks like a chair from a spaceship. With a built-in camera, the Kirobo mini can sense a driver's mood, gesture and talk -- suggesting music to listen to or places to go.

The Toyota Heart Project aims to pair artificial intelligence with humans to create "a better world." As humans spend much of their time in a car, this project makes use of this time, treating it as an enjoyable learning experience.
