Contemporary Barn Abodes

Kiko Salomao Architecture Firm Builds a Country Home in Brazil

Kiko Salomao architecture firm has completed a barn-like abode in Brazil located in the countryside. According to DesignBoom, "with a premise of being a one-story house, the main challenge was to meet the needs of acoustic and thermal comfort, keeping all the functions of a single family home."

The architects decided to separate the design into three distinct areas, with one being the barn-like structure, and the others sticking out in a rectangular form on either side. Because of this design, the people in the house are able to have distinct sections for public interaction and private space. With a family home, having these boundaries is important for each individual to get their quiet time, as well as ensure there is enough interaction. Photo Credits: designboom, kikosalomao.br
