The electric motor of the Kickr is easy to install, requiring you only to take off a rear wheel and bolt it back in place with the motor. The battery goes under the board and the throttle goes up top. To engage the throttle, simply step on it.
The makers of the Kickr say it can propel a longboard up to 20 mph and that it can go about six miles on a single charge. Recharge time for the battery is listed at two hours. Kickr has already exceeded its fundraising goal of $15,000 on Kickstarter and still have four weeks of fundraising left.
