Designed by Mac Funamizu of the blog Petit Invention, this concept piece entitled the Kaya microwave gives the lazy cook's standby a long overdue makeover. By his own admission, Mac is a little lost in the kitchen. With his own limitations in mind, Mac equipped this standing dome-shaped cooker with a theoretical touch-sensitive screen, which not only allows you to adjust the cook time, it also gives you a realistic rendition of what the food will look like after cooking. You will know your food will be cooked to perfection before the buzzer even makes a peep.

Mac Funamizu also expressed a wish to make microwaves portable. Try to avoid thinking about what this development could do to the couch potatoes of the world and think instead of the more wholesome image of the microwave standing adjacent to a table full of diners. The microwave itself is shaped like those iconic domed serving platters that often accompany room service. The microwave reaches table height and, like a capable electronic maitre d, it unveils your dish with the necessary flourish.

Now, there is no need to tamper with cook times or worry about your mash potatoes catching a chill at the table; with the Kaya microwave table-side all your reheating woes are solved.
