Kai and Sunny Transform Flocks of Birds into Stunning Black and White Art

Brighton-based art duo Kai and Sunny have just exhibited a new series of works titled 'Migration South' at Australia's Southbank Centre. This stunning collection features wondrously natural flocks of birds and butterflies, rendered as minimalist, black and white silhouettes. The different shades of black and white, from pitch dark to smoky gray to stark white, blend together to give each painting a film noir style.

To give their winged creatures the appearance of a speedy flight, Kai and Sunny painted geometric, narrow white lines diagonally across their paintings. This lends a supersonic quality to the paintings that transforms the flocks of birds from normal animals into otherworldly creatures.

With 'Migration South,' Kay and Sunny have proven that natural, organic creatures can indeed serve as subjects for contemporary, man-made artwork.
