NKS Architects designed the Juul House to accommodate for the needs of a musician.
The house features a swooping ceiling divided into convex shapes that improves the acoustics inside the living room. In fact, the living room is intended to double as a music hall. To further enhance the performance properties of the space, the architects inserted holes into the concrete surfaces of the surrounding walls, filling it with a more absorbent material. The room was finished off with sound-absorbent doors.
The curving surfaces within the house lend the house a unique silhouette and profile. Skylights located between the ground floor ceiling allow daylight to fill the living room, adjoining kitchen and dining area. The living room also connects to an outdoor deck by way of sliding doors embedded into a glazed wall.
