Jennifer Loeber's Latest Series Explores Love and Loss

In order to cope with her mother's sudden passing, photographer Jennifer Loeber created an archival photo series to express her grief.

Loeber explains, "I found myself deeply overwhelmed by the need to keep even the most mundane of my mom’s belongings." Her photography series, titled 'Left Behind,' offered Loeber a form of emotional release from the feelings of anxiety and sadness that her mother's belongings stirred in her.

Loeber shared photos of her mom's things on Instagram as a method of disengaging herself from them. Through this cathartic ritual, Loeber was able to shed the sentimental feelings that kept her from coming to terms with her mother's death. Each item is accompanied by an archival photo related to the object in question, ultimately offering a visual history of her mother's life.
