Virgil Abloh's Off-White has expanded its 2017 pre-fall collection with a contribution from Jennifer Fisher, a jewelry designer.
Reportedly, the entire collection will be themed around global warming, in an effort to bring more awareness to it. The earrings execute this theme by emulating the shape of stove coils, which Jennifer Fisher has described as "wasteful," due to the radiant heat that comes from electric stoves. The earrings are available in silver-plated brass, as well as 12-karat yellow-gold-plated brass. They can be purchased individually or as a pair, with costs running $275 and $535, respectively.
Virgil Abloh explained the collaborative effort by saying: "The undercurrents behind women’s Off-White are undertones of issues facing the world. Climate change, women’s rights are at the forefront. The earrings created in collaboration with Jennifer Fisher were based on radiating energy. The design stems from that mechanical part readily found in real life."
