Though Angelina Jolie is currently introducing audiences to a new take on Maleficent with the eponymously titled film, artist Jeff Langevin is introducing us to a contemporary Maleficent of his own creation.
Choosing to give the self-proclaimed mistress of all evil a more hipster-inspired look, Jeff Langevin's Maleficent remains a villain that should not be trifled with. Still sporting her trademark horns, and pet raven Diablo, Maleficent is brought into the 21st century via her new wardrobe: jeans and a tank top that display the infamous spinning wheel. In addition to the wardrobe changes, Langevin chose to give Maleficent tattoos as well: a sleeve of swirling symbols on her left arm, and a fearsome dragon prominently displayed on her chest.
It is a fantastic re-imagining of an iconic Disney villain; hopefully Jeff Langevin's modern Maleficent is the start of a series.
