Recyled Can Mosaics

Jeff Ivanhoe Makes Art from Trash

Most people don't think of empty aluminum cans as the stuff of art, but then again Jeff Ivanhoe isn't most people. He uses countless cans to meticulously piece together intricate mosaics that faithfully render their subjects to a degree many people would have a hard time doing with a pencil or paintbrush. Ivanhoe aptly terms this art form, 'AluMosaics.'

He teaches the art to students in his native Arizona and has made a DVD that distills the most important lessons. Not surprisingly, the artist has been featured in such media outlets and forums as Modern Metropolis, MyTekLife magazine, Travel Host magazine and the Pheonix Chamber of Commerce.

AluMosaics is an inventive example of recycling and reusing. If more people were to look materials like aluminum cans as a resource, perhaps there would be less trash on the street.
