Watermelon-Shaped Dumplings

This Japanese Dessert Now Comes in a Refreshing Summer Edition

Dango are known as traditional Japanese desserts that are typically arranged and eaten on a stick and served warm or fried. For the summer months, confectionery company Yagumo Dango is introducing a special-edition frozen dumpling treat that takes after the look and taste of a watermelon. The ice cream-inspired frozen watermelon-inspired treat is made with a matcha green tea chocolate coating that covers a bright pink interior complete with black sesame seeds to imitate the inside of a real melon fruit.

The inventive Yagumo Dango treat shows the way that traditional foods can be completely reimagined in new forms, flavors and textures for a particular season.
