This Japan Photo Series Captures Characteristics of Japan and its People

This hauntingly beautiful Japan photo series takes a very sensual approach to capturing Japanese women. Looking more like art than photography, the 'Tales from Japan' series is captured by photographer Reylia Slaby who was born and raised in Japan.

Having always felt like an outsider because she was not actually Japanese, the 21-year-old photographer embarked on this set of images as a personal project to deal with her mixed feelings about her identity.

"My home was not fully my home because of how I looked," says Slaby.

In her poignant and emotional Japan photo series 'Tales from Japan', Slaby does such a stunning job capturing exquisite aesthetics that are characteristic of Japan and its people.

"The beginning of this project was like a breath of fresh air," she says, "and it began to open doors in my mind and heart."
