Pharmaceutical company ALK recently launched the ITULATEK™ (standardized allergen extract, white birch (betula verrucosa) sublingual tablet) for the treatment of tree pollen allergy in Canada. The new allergy immunotherapy tablet is safe for adults aged 18 to 65 and helps reduce symptoms of tree pollen allergies.
Allergy immunotherapy, or AIT, uses the body's own immune system to treat the underlying causes of environmental allergies. It introduces small amounts of allergens into the body so the immune system can gradually adapt to them.
