Brussels-based designer Pierre-Emmanuel Vandeputte will be showcasing his Isola coffee table during the Salone Del Mobile show this year. The furniture piece was created to recall a time that Vandeputte spent on the island of Isola Comacina -- which is how it received its name. The unique coffee table is constructed with a skin-tight leather in the colorway options of either black or natural beige.
The Isola coffee table has a foundation crafted from a powder-coated steel frame in order to end up with a taut tabletop. The materials used in the design are long-lasting and often used with luxurious designs, while the Isola takes on a more humble approach. As leather softens over time, so will the table as objects are placed on it, adding weight. This concept was taken into consideration and handles are added to tighten it up again as if it were brand new.
