'The 7 Most Hated Internet Innovations of All-Time' lists the most annoying features still in use today online. Such internet inventions include the pop-up ad, viruses, captchas, regional censorship, cookies, spam and cybersquatting. 70% of those surveyed said irrelevant pop-up advertisements are the most irritating kind of internet ad. The first true virus, Elk Cloner, was created in 1982. Cybercrime cost the global economy an estimated $400 billion last year. Humans spend 500,000 hours every day proving they are human. In 2011 up to 90% of all emails sent were spam.
