interiqr is an innovative 3D printing technique out of Osaka University that turns food into edible QR codes. Scientists worked with cookies to create "unobtrusive edible tags" that are useful for providing more information without interfering with the snack's taste.

The non-toxic food tag can be read with a smartphone and it has the potential to support the future of food traceability and safety. Kosuke Sato, senior author of the study, also says "This technology can also be used to provide novel food experiences through augmented reality."
