Motif-Mixing High Fashion Runways

Prada's Fall/Winter 2019 is Strongly Inspired by Frankenstein

It is one thing to say that something is inspired by Frankenstein, it is another to truly dedicate an entire line to the concept of deconstructive reconstruction.

Prada recently debuted its Fall/Winter 2019 menswear collection and its Pre-Fall women's line in Milan. Both ranges entertain a sinisterly Gothic ambiance that experiments with textures, cuts, nuances, patterns and more.

The fact that the luxe fashion house's pieces are inspired by Frankenstein is communicated to the audience in a direct and indirect manner. On one hand, some of the clothing displays prints of the character's head. On the other hand, each outfit in Prada's 2019 collection is an amalgam of many motifs and styles -- a nod to the aesthetic of Mary Shelly's fictitious monster.
