IFWTO & Simons' Capsule Collection Showcases Indigenous Artists

Indigenous Fashion Week Toronto (IFWTO) teamed up with Quebec-based retailer Simons on an Indigenous fashion collaboration featuring organic linen as a base. For the collection, eight Indigenous artists from across Canada applied their unique skills to everything from shirts and pants to dresses.

There are 30 pieces to discover, some of which are adorned with delicate embroidery, beadwork or laser-cut acrylic details. By exploring the imagery of contemporary Indigeneity and traditional techniques from Indigenous creators, the capsule collection is woven with themes that celebrate history and culture, strength and resilience, environmentally conscious practices and more.

Although the multi-day IFWTO event that was planned has since been postponed, this collection offers a different way for fashion lovers to discover luxury and couture through wearable art.
