Jaggedly Perforated Bottles

Sara Ebert's In Case Vase Breaks Apart to Create Optimal Shards

As safe as a person should feel in their own home, it's never a bad idea to ensure you're armed with something like the In Case Vase. Part of the Threat: Objects for Defense and Protection art show, it is one of many answers to the question posed by the American Design Club, the curator of the exhibit: "You’ve just heard something in the other room. What would you want to grab to defend yourself?"

Designed by Sara Ebert, the In Case Vase boasts a jagged perforated pattern around the width of its body. When smashed against a hard surface, the porcelain bottle will break into optimal shards, making it the perfect weapon. Thus, the In Case Vase serves two beautiful and brave purposes.
