Apocalypse Now will get an IMAX re-release for the film's 40th anniversary. The re-release comes as a result of a collaboration between IMAX and Lionsgate to showcase the famous film in a few locations this summer. The original movie's Final Cut won a number of awards, including three Golden Globes, as well as eight Acadamy Award nominations. The Imax re-release of Apocolypse Now Finial Cut will be available to fans of the film from August 15 -18.
The director of Apocalypse Now, Francis Ford Coppola, has expressed enthusiasm for the re-release. He even stated, "In truth, I’ve always wanted Apocalypse Now to be exhibited in the grandest format of cinema conceivable. And now audiences will have a chance to experience Final Cut in the most immersive format in existence."
