The I-CARE Sensor Enforces Safer Viewing Distances for Children

Designers Zhichao Xue and Chen Yizi have created a special I-CARE sensor that monitors the distance between the eyes and computer screen to ensure children are not hovering too close to the monitor.

There are so many pieces of technology that can affect the eyesight of children and adults like smartphones, laptops, video games. Though adults are more self-regulating, children continuously hover closer to the screens in order to feel the intensity of the game or movie or because their vision is already failing. The I-CARE sensor provides an interesting solution where it automatically blurs the screen's resolution if it senses the viewer's eyes is less than 50 meters away from the screen.

This program will help children to gradually adjust and become used to the safer viewing distance over time.
