Hybrid Blimps

These Bulbous Aircrafts Could Start Flying the Skies Again

A new generation of travellers and tourists may not know of the Hindenburg, a blimp which famously caught fire in 1937, yet today's hybrid blimps are a far cry from those. So much so that experts are predicting that they will be taking to the skies sooner rather than later in order to provide another mode of transportation.

There are a few companies currently perfecting these hybrid blimps, which use both internal gas and their aerodynamic design to get off the ground, in order to ship cargo, oil and gas. Yet others are see another purpose all together. Stephen McGlennan, CEO of Hybrid Air Vehicle, says, "Tourism and leisure is pushing itself to the front."
