Untooning Video Game Characters

Bowser Gets Real

Following in the footsteps of the great work done by Pixeloo of "untooning" Mario, Homer and Jessica Rabbit, Essenmitsosse.de has untooned the famous Nintendo game villain, Bowser.

Bowser is the leader and most powerful of the turtle-like Koopa race and Mario's arch-nemesis. The Photoshopped work is rich in details and I think it successfully captures Bowser's mean and threatening demeanor perfectly.

Implications - Essenmitsosse.de states that when he recreated Bowser he changed some of the character's proportions, but ultimately stuck to the same look. Essenmitsosse.de took inspiration from dinosaurs to recreate the style of the Nintendo game villain. The new Bowser looks super realistic, which was one of the artist's main goals.
