The Human Psyche Takes a Human Form in Short Film 'Unity'

These mesmerizingly odd sculptures of the human psyche are the work of director Tobias Stretch for his haunting new animation 'Unity'.

For the the short stop-motion film, Stretch used 10,000 photographs of unusual yet emotional tree-like puppets to compose a spellbinding piece about the human psyche and all the things it goes through -- love, death and resurrection.

The puppets in the film are articulated beautifully and boast bodies and soulfully human eyes. The artsy and avant-garde film is full of visual delights -- the first scene is shot in a house that looks like a Vincent van Gogh painting -- and revolves around lovers who represent the four seasons with feelings and notions of death and life. However, the most impressive thing about 'Unity' is definitely the humane tree sculptures.
