3D-Modelled Metallic Organs

Anne Mondro Recreates Human Hearts Out Using Tech and Knit Wires

Anne Mondro is a detailed sculptor that recreates realistic renditions of the human heart using 3D-modelling and knitted wires. The wires are interwoven extremely tight to replicate the heart to a realistic degree that is then placed on display in the Stamps School of Art and Design at the University of Michigan as a commentary on the healthcare system.

The project looks at the relationship and intimacy that is formed between a patient and their caregiver and the knitted aesthetic of the wires used to construct the hearts highlight this closeness. The organs are developed using 3D-modelling to construct a realistic anatomical piece that is then put together using connected wires that are stitched together by hand.
