Redmer Hoekstra is an artist from the Netherlands who creates and illustrates intricate human animal drawings.
His images portray animals as the subjects being incorporated into everyday objects. He creates a humanimal-like style within his works and turns his subjects into new breeds. Examples of these new classes include an owl with its wings spread, with wings composed of books. Or a rhino with his back built into a ship; even a whale within a banana skin.
These creations are fascinating and require the artist to have a strong imagination to foresee new, entangled images. His work is humorous and inquisitive and allows the viewer to imagine ordinary creatures as extraordinary objects; Hoekstra’s work inspires us to see beyond what is in front of us.
