The How Life is for a Butterfly Kid Campaign is Impactful and Inspiring

The How Life is for a Butterfly Kid campaign is such a brilliant way of conveying the message and cause that lies beneath it. The term "butterfly kid" is used to refer to a child with a rare dermatological condition that causes irreparable skin blistering known as Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB).

Photo production house Staudinger + Franke are the genius design team behind the photo series, which distorts everyday normal children's objects into frightening, sharp and uninviting ones. In this superficial world, things perceived as ugly endure a great deal of suffering. This photo series serves as a metaphor for the impact this terrible disease has on children, whose peers are perceived as normal and beautiful, while they are seen as scary, freaky and uninviting.

For me personally, the cheese grater slide and broken bottle sandbox are the photos that send the most powerful message, but each of them heartbreakingly succeeds in conveying the intended message and makes me want to learn more about this devastating disease.
