Playful Pedestrian Paths

Graham Coreil-Allen's Hopscotch Crosswalk Art Inspires Whimsical Walking

The Hopscotch Crosswalk Collosus in Baltimore allows pedestrians to cross the street in a whimsical way. In an effort to drive foot traffic to the Bromo Tower Arts and Entertainment District, the Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts commissioned these artistically arranged crosswalks designed by artist Graham Coreil-Allen. Coreil-Allen is just one of the artists asked to contribute to the public art project.

The four different hopscotch crosswalk installations intersect with each other and feature a variety of footprint types. Each crosswalk showcases one of Baltimore's signature path prints, like the Shoe, the Bird Track, the Boot and the Footprint. Rather than running or rushing to the other side of the road, the playful pedestrian paths will inspire walkers to hop and skip instead.
