HONOR Announced the 'Magic VS' 7.9-Inch Horizontal Foldable Phone

'HONOR,' a China-based smartphone brand formerly a subsidiary of Huawei, has launched its first foldable phone, the HONOR Magic VS. The device is expected to compete with flagships such as Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series, offering a similar design at a lower price.

The HONOR Magic VS features a 7.9-inch internal folding display with a resolution of 2480 x 2200 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. When folded, it has a 6.45-inch cover display with a resolution of 2700 x 1160 pixels and a 90Hz refresh rate. The phone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, along with 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of internal storage.

The HONOR Magic VS also boasts impressive cameras, including a 50-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel telephoto camera with optical zoom, and a 16-megapixel ultra-wide camera on the back. On the front, it has a dual selfie camera system with a 32-megapixel main camera and an infrared depth sensor for face unlock.

The HONOR Magic VS runs Android 11 with HONOR’s own Magic UI skin on top. It supports Google services and apps, which is notable given that Huawei’s devices are currently not permitted to use Google Services. The phone also supports wireless charging and reverse wireless charging for other devices.

The HONOR Magic VS is priced at €1,499 (about $1,700) for the base model and €1,699 (about $1,900) for the higher-end model. It will be available in select markets in Europe and Asia starting from March.
