E-commerce giant Amazon has partnered with Honeywell Home to release its first smart thermostat. Affordably priced at $60, the new device poses a direct challenge to Alphabet Inc.'s 'Google Nest.'
Announced during Amazon's annual hardware event on Tuesday, the new thermostat was said to boast an incredibly simple, user-friendly design. As a result, users can expect to do little to no programming themselves, as the device will automatically sync to their existing Amazon/Alexa home ecosystem. In addition, homeowners will be able to control the temperature of their homes via voice command.
According to the company, the smart thermostat will be compatible with most HVAC systems, giving it near-universal applicability. In terms of design, the wall unit presents a minimalist look, equipped with just two arrow touch buttons and a large temperature display.
