This Home in Santa Monica Features Lots of Creative Space

Steven Kent Architects designed a family home in Santa Monica, California, titled the '24th Street Residence.'

Being a gallery owner and musician, the homeowners were very specific in their expectations from this home. The overall objective was to design a modern home with a minimalist design aesthetic, plenty of outdoor space, room to display art, a recording studio and home theater, using green building techniques.

The house was constructed as a series of three volumes, each with unique texture and material palette, which overlap to form an exceptional exterior formation anchored by a concrete stair. The second-floor cantilevers, offering shelter and privacy for the main floor, whose glass volume also features a system of wooden slatts.
