Burj Dubai Gets Firetide Mesh

Oops! Somebody forgot that walkie talkies have a limited range, including upward! The worker bees on the 2,275 foot Burj Dubai monster transformer discovered their bosses and coworkers couldn't hear their communications. This caused some safety issues when workers leaned over the edge to yell down to the ground for more instructions.

Samsung Corp., the main contractor, made a new link-up called mesh networks, similar to mobiles, but local only. For that they used a company called Firetide, using several Wi-Fi-enabled VoIP phones over a HotPort wireless mesh, which also serves as the transport for the security video in the site.
