Interactive Glacier Museums

'High Arctic' Reveals Wing Where Participation is Mandatory

This interactive display entitled 'High Arctic' which is at Greenwich's National Maritime Museum marks the first ever wing with an interactive exploration of the Arctic landscape. 'High Arctic' requires the visitors to walk through glaciers and snowstorms while hearing the history behind each event and figure. Some of the displays require you to shine a flashlight to reveal certain things or require you to walk a certain way to show a path.

The exhibition has over 3000 interactive columns that serve to represent glaciers in the Arctic other watery areas that are represented through sound and light projectors that represent the quickly shrinking ocean area in the Arctic. The displays show an accurate projection of what our world might look like if we continue on polluting the North Pole the way we have been. Ash Nehru, UVA's director of software, the idea men behind the 'High Arctic' exhibition, said, "We have never done an exhibition before. It's more of an artistic interpretation..."
