'Hey Joe' is a smart coffee mug, developed by a pair of Atlanta-based entrepreneurs, that can brew fresh coffee on demand with the simple push of a button.
Water is poured into the upper compartment of the Hey Jow mug and warmed up by a heating plate. Once the water reaches a pre-set temperature, it drips through a hole and onto a coffee pod situated on a sliding tray in the center of the mug. The coffee then settles in the bottom reservoir of the mug with the hot plate regulating the temperature the whole way.
This complex set of brewing processes is set in motion by pushing a button located on the side of the Hey Joe mug. One push sees coffee brewed at 60 degrees Centigrade, two pushes heats it up to 68 degrees Centigrade and three pushes prepares cold drip coffee. The length of the process ranger from about a minute and a half for cold drip to three minutes for hot coffee, depending on how much liquid is used.
