Henry’s Cafe Bar is Testing a 'Pay @ Pump' Contactless Payment System

Patrons who visit Henry’s Café Bar in London, England now have the chance to test a self-serve beer pump prototype that accepts contactless payments. To begin an interaction with the pump, a consumer is able to process their order through a small touchscreen and complete the transaction by tapping a contactless card or NFC device at the base of the pump. In total, completing a transaction from start to finish takes about a minute, which virtually eliminates wait times.

The 'Pay @ Pump' system is a new innovation from Barclaycard, in response to research that determined at least a quarter of British consumers now expect to see contactless payment systems in pubs and bars.

This technology is the perfect convergence of an emerging number of self-serve stations in bars, pubs and restaurants and the contactless payment systems that are becoming increasingly present in grocery stores and other retail destinations.
