London's iconic double decker buses have received a makeover courtesy of Heatherwick Studio. Thomas Heatherwick's redesigned buses are a modern reinterpretation of the iconic double decker buses that became famous the world over.
The Heatherwick Studio design maintains the same color scheme and overall look of the double deck buses of old, but it is undeniably modern in every aspect. The bus contains two staircases and a hop-on hop-off platform in the rear. One of these buses is already making the rounds on London's Route 38 and seven more are expected to hit the city before the end of February 2012. Heatherwick Studio's bus is also eco-friendly in addition to being modern. The bus is 15 percent more fuel efficient than existing hybrid buses.
