Hardcoded Memory Represents People's Blind Trust in Machines

Hardcoded Memory is an art installation that comments on today's digital age. It specifically represents people's blind trust in machines. So many people interact on social media sites, purchase items on online shops and more, creating a digital life that is near impossible to erase thanks to a little thing called cloud computing. Hardcoded Memory addresses this influx of personal information by showing just how fragile it and the system really is.

Created by London design studio Troika, the Hardcoded Memory installation is currently on display at the London Design Museum. It is a large lo-fi projector that displays fuzzy, vague pixelated portraits of people. The designers elaborate, "Hardcoded Memory stands a metaphor for the human search for meaning and continuity, while celebrating forgetting in the digital age."
