Located in Ecuador, the Happy Panda restaurant was recently completed by Hou de Sousa Architects. Because the team was working with a very long, small space, they decided to separate the area into a public dining section in the front, with the private area in the back. That way the business can offer services to a variety of clientele.
The choice for decorating the walls in Chinese scroll came from the newer sources of laser cutting and a growing advertising industry in Ecuador. The owners had people from a billboard agency install the artwork, which gives the entire restaurant a historical aesthetic, as well as a sense of authority. Lighter colors were used throughout to ensure the atmosphere wasn't too dark.
