Signode Launches Its Battery Hand Tool for Plastic Strapping

Signode introduced the BXT Go, a battery-powered hand tool for plastic strapping designed to deliver consistent performance while reducing operator fatigue. Intended for mid-level strapping applications, the tool supports both PET and PP strapping in 1/2-inch and 5/8-inch sizes and features auto, semi and manual operating modes with an intuitive user interface.

Powered by a BOSCH 18V lithium-ion battery that charges to 80% in about 24 minutes, the BXT Go weighs 8.05 pounds and is designed for manufacturing, logistics, warehousing and distribution environments. The tool also incorporates recycled and recyclable metal and plastic components that are easy to replace, supporting long-term product use.

For packaging operations, the BXT Go provides a lightweight, cordless strapping solution that improves productivity and operator comfort, reflecting growing demand for ergonomic, sustainability-minded packaging equipment.

Trend Themes

  1. Cordless Packaging Tools — Battery-powered strapping equipment creates new potential for flexible packaging lines that are less dependent on fixed workstations, compressed air systems, or corded power access.
  2. Ergonomic Warehouse Automation — Lightweight handheld tools with automated operating modes signal a shift toward productivity gains that also reduce repetitive strain and operator fatigue in labor-intensive environments.
  3. Sustainable Industrial Equipment — Recyclable components, replaceable parts, and longer product lifecycles are reshaping packaging equipment as sustainability becomes a differentiator beyond consumable materials.

Industry Implications

  1. Packaging — Plastic strapping systems with smarter power, control, and material compatibility open room for more adaptable end-of-line packaging workflows across varied production volumes.
  2. Warehousing — Cordless, user-friendly tools support faster pallet preparation and load securing in dynamic warehouse settings where mobility and ease of training influence throughput.
  3. Logistics — Portable strapping solutions designed for PET and PP materials introduce efficiency opportunities for distribution networks balancing shipment integrity, labor constraints, and sustainability goals.
