Hybrid Hand Grenades

This Grenade Design Allows For Different Modes Of Enemy Engagement

Engineers working out of the US Army Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center are developing a futuristic new hand grenade, called the Enhanced Tactical Multi-Purpose or ET-MP, that is designed to offer soldiers flexibility of use. Specifically, this grenade features a lever that can be switched one way or the other to choose between concussive (offensive) and fragmentation (defensive) blasts.

The first new hand grenade introduced to the American military in decades, the ET-MP hand grenade was the result of several years of research and development undertaken in response to feedback from military personnel. The grenade is also designed to be ambidextrous in that both right-handed and left-handed people can handle them with equal ease.

With its hybrid functionality, the ET-MP allows soldiers to engage in battle without having to carry different stocks of grenades for different purposes.
