Gustav Willeit Uses Parallels to Capture the Allure of Remote Locations

At first glimpse, the islands pictured in Gustav Willeit's photographs appear to be actual locations, but in truth they are images created out of mirrored scenery.

Willeit doesn't simply photograph a location, cut out half of it and reflect the other half; the pictures all contain elements that are exclusive to one side of the photograph, complicating the interpretation of these locations.

There are indicators that allude to the pictures manipulated composition but the locations are nonetheless impressive in their remoteness and tranquil aesthetics. In many of these locations Willeit includes a few individuals to emphasize the impressive scale of the towering structures. These pictures would make learning about geometry, parallels and angles practical, fun and engaging for future artists.
