Unified Grocer Loyalty Programs

Loblaws Merges Its Shoppers Optimum & PC Plus for More Benefits

Loblaw Companies Ltd. offers a unified grocer loyalty program that combines Shoppers Optimum and PC Plus cards. The Star reports that this was a "long-anticipated move" as "the grocery giant acquired the pharmacy chain" more than three years ago. The act of merging the two reward systems has the potential to largely benefit the establishment by way of a more efficient data gathering system, as well as more personalized promotions for cardholders.

The new unified grocer loyalty program is named PC Optimum. Consumers are able to earn points as usual in-store, enjoy better offers and deals, as well as benefit from using their President's Choice Financial MasterCard. The system of point-earning is fairly simple — 10,000 points gives you $10, 20,000 equal $20 and so on, with a ceiling for single transaction redemption of $500.
